Getting started with exora

Create your account, set up your details, and bring your first medical document into exora - usually in just a few minutes.

What you will need

exora is currently in private early access, so creating an account takes two things:

  • An invite code - a numeric code from your invitation. If you do not have one, you can request early access through our contact page.
  • A phone number or email address - used to sign in securely. There is no password to remember.

You can use exora on iPhone and iPad through the App Store, or in your web browser at app.exora.au. Android support is coming soon.

Create your account

Open the app or website and follow the sign-up flow:

  1. Enter your invite code. exora checks it and moves you straight on once it is verified.
  2. Choose how to sign in. Enter your mobile number to receive a one-time code by text, or your email address to receive a sign-in link and backup code.
  3. Confirm the code. Type in the code we send you (or tap the link in your email). That is it - no password to set up or remember.

If you are signing up on a shared or public computer, you can choose a session that signs you out automatically when you close the tab.

Set up your details

Next, exora asks for a few details so your health record is accurate from the start:

  • Your name - first and last name, with optional middle name and a nickname.
  • Your date of birth and biological sex - used to interpret your health data correctly, such as age and sex-specific reference ranges for lab results.

You will also be asked to agree to the Terms of Service and to consent to exora using AI to process your health data. Both are required to create your account, because processing your documents is how exora turns them into an organised health record.

Your profile

When your account is created, exora automatically sets up your personal health profile using the details you just entered. This is where your own medical records live.

There is a helpful distinction worth knowing:

  • Your account is how you log in. One account can manage several profiles.
  • A profile is a person’s health record. Yours is created for you automatically.

Later, you can add profiles for the people you care for - children, parents, or other dependents - all from the same account. See the managing profiles guide when you are ready.

Verify your identity

Because your account holds real medical data, you can verify your identity to unlock secure sharing and other sensitive features. During early access, the exora team handles verification, and you will be notified when it is confirmed.

Identity verification is optional to get started but recommended. You can read more in the identity verification guide.

Upload your first document

Now for the part that makes exora useful - bringing in your medical records. Go to the Documents tab and tap the add button. You can:

  • Scan a paper document with your phone camera, with automatic edge detection and cropping.
  • Take a photo of a document or item.
  • Choose files already saved on your device, such as a PDF from a hospital portal.
  • Pick from your photo library.

Once uploaded, your document is queued and exora begins extracting your medications, conditions, test results, and more. This usually takes a few minutes, and you can safely leave the screen while it works. For everything about uploading, see the uploading documents guide.

Find your way around

Once your first document is processed, your health data starts to appear across the app:

  • Your health record - medications, conditions, allergies, immunisations, lab results, and vitals, organised and easy to browse.
  • Documents - every file you have uploaded, with its processing status and a link back to the original.
  • Stories - plain-language summaries of your healthcare visits and how your health is tracking over time.
  • Chat - ask questions about your health data in plain language and get answers grounded in your records. See the using the AI chat guide.

The more documents you add from different providers, the richer and more connected your health record becomes.
